ENGRAVED BRICKS IN THE PARK

Almost 100 bricks have been ordered for phase 2. Incredible!  The bricks have been transported to Darlington for engraving with a projected return date most likely in May.

HRH 2023 -The Year in Review

The year 2023 was recapped at the 2024 HRH Annual meeting held at Rose Hill Presbyterian Church on Jan. 21st at 4pm.  Outgoing president Lynn Shirley gave the following highlights:

GRANTS OBTAINED: 

$3000  Columbia Green – (New plantings in the park – S. Saluda side)

$1500 – Richland Co. Neighborhood Improvement Pgm. (partially paid for the 2023 Directory)

$1200 - City Community Development Grant (LYB) purchased new History Sign for the park

PARTNERSHIPS:

Three neighborhoods collaborated (HRH, Wales Garden and Wheeler Hill) on various issues: USC South Campus, Five Points, City rental ordinances, parking and traffic.

New STOP signs on S. Pickens @ Crestwood, S. Saluda @ Pinewood & speed humps on Pinewood, S. Bull and S. Gregg

TANGIBLES:

·      Coordinated a “Do you own” yardsale in the spring

·      Finished installation of 10 more Historic House plaques

·      Published a 2023 Directory

·      Published updated Historic House brochure

·      Resurrected our website (https://hollywoodrosehill.org)

·      Replaced HRH history sign in park with free installation by Jim Evatt (PCR)

·      Created HRH car window stickers

·      Started a phase 2 brick paver project in the park

IN HOLLYWOOD PARK:

·      The City extended the irrigation system to both sides of S. Saluda planted beds

·      Kathryn Luchok devised a planting plan for items purchased from a Cola. Green grant – Joel Gillespie & employees did the planting free of charge

·      City agreed to re-plant diseased redtips & replace the park water fountain

• The HRH Council was proactive in 2 zoning matters in HRH (old FamDollar & old Eye of the Cat properties).

• We also held our usual Park events (Easter, Egg Hunt, 4th  Of July parade, National Night Out, fall picnic, and Dec. park event)
